Though we are thankful throughout the year for so many things, this season of thankfulness and celebration provides a good opportunity to stop and reflect and to share our appreciation with our wonderful clients and partners. Because the goodwill of those we serve is at the foundation of our success, we thought it especially fitting this holiday season to make a donation to Goodwill Industries as a way of giving back and acknowledging our thanks.
We are proud to support the work of Goodwill, a non-profit providing education, career development, and employment opportunities to help Coloradans in need achieve self-sufficiency, dignity, and hope through the Power of Work.
In addition to a donation, we will also be directly supporting Goodwill's Youth Career Development Program. In December, we will be hosting a career development event at Thornton High School and helping to lead the mock interviews with the students, and then we will be hosting additional events at area schools through 2016. We are so excited to be able to share our in-depth knowledge of hiring and career development with these motivated students.
The Goodwill Youth Career Development Program has seen astonishing successes in helping Colorado students achieve educational and career goals. The program served over 17,000 students in 7 school districts last year, and these students were more likely to go on to graduate from high school (72.2% versus 66.8%) and go to and stay in college (39% versus 22%). When surveyed, 91.7% of students who had participated in a Goodwill class felt that it helped prepare them for the future.
Goodwill also has an Adult Career Development Program that offers classes to adult job seekers, helping them identify their strengths and interests and providing the tools necessary to conduct a successful job search.
If you feel inspired to help Goodwill continue to provide these programs and offer crucial education, career development, and employment opportunities to needy Coloradans, we'd love to have you join us in supporting the organization through volunteer efforts. Volunteering as a group is a fantastic way for organizations to do some team building while also giving back to the community.
We hope you have a happy, healthy, and restful holiday!
