In this season of gratitude, TalenTrust gives thanks for our many clients and supporters. As a sign of our thanks, TalenTrust is making a donation to Goodwill Industries of Denver, a nonprofit we are proud to support. Goodwill provides education, career development and employment opportunities to help Coloradoans in need achieve self-sufficiency, dignity and hope through the power of work.
In early December, the TalenTrust team participated in a mock interview event through Goodwill’s High School Career Development Program. Students in the Careers Exploration class for grades 10-12 at Thornton High School spent all semester learning how to write a resume, craft a cover letter, and practice interviewing skills. Then they put these skills to work during the Goodwill mock interview event.
Interviews are such a crucial part of both the college and job application processes, so our team at TalenTrust was very willing to share our knowledge about what makes a successful interview with these students. Each of us was able to conduct a mock interview with several students during the course of the hour-long event. We were given interview questions and a scoring rubric to guide us, but the most helpful part was being able to provide verbal feedback to the students after each interview.
